Well it's been a little over a month since my last post. Life has been busy but we are just about 9 weeks, give or take, from meeting our little man. I'm getting both excited and anxious as the days go by!
Since the last update, I have successfully completed my gestational diabetes test and passed. So thank goodness that isn't something I have to worry about. As of my 30 week check up, I'm up 30 pounds. I guess the lack of eating at the beginning of the pregnancy is being made up for at the end of the pregnancy! Mommy and baby are hungry these days! I'm pretty sure this is gonna be a hefty boy too! We had a 3D/4D ultrasound done at Miami Dade College at 30 weeks also and while all the statistics say he should've been around 2 lbs 5 ounces, this boy was measuring 3 lbs 14 ounces and still showing a due date (by measurements) of 8/5/15. So we'll see what he decides to do over the next 9 weeks. He was also still transverse. I'll be seeing Miriam on Thursday this week and hopefully he'll have turned head down or we'll start talking about natural options to make him turn. I've also started seeing a chiropractor which has been awesome and they can work on the ligaments in those areas to help encourage baby to turn. I still have not met with Dr. Spence but I am literally waiting on a phone call today or tomorrow to schedule that within the next 10 days.
We also met with our doulas, Sara and Geri with Soul Sister Birth https://www.facebook.com/pages/Soul-Sister-Birth/843649749013929?fref=ts - they came over for dinner and we chatted about many different items and discussed some positive birth affirmations. I'm so excited to have them on board and I know they are going to make or break this birth experience. Miriam and I will discuss this week too, her home visit so she can come access where everything will be set up, what needs to be moved, etc and the process of the big day. We're also meeting with our potential birth photographer this week which I'm really excited about! I love the team we've built and are continuing to build and I'm so confident that if it's just my sweet family of 4 going on 5 and them, we're going to be just fine! I'm excited to be in the stages of building birth plans and buying birth kit materials and just knowing that we're two short months away of having a sweet newborn to snuzzle! Last night we also took our maternity photos with a friend of Erik's whose worked weddings and trained under Erik's style, so aside from the terrible mosquitos, it was a blast and I'm excited to see what Jose Mena Photography https://www.facebook.com/josemenaphotography?fref=ts produces for us! And of course, I'll happily share with all of you.
I also need to state that my sweet friend and surrogate aunt of all my boys, Katie Miner, threw the most beautiful, casual baby shower at my house on Saturday, June 6th. There were about 20 ladies here including ourselves and it was just such a blessing to share in the joy of this upcoming addition with them. We haven't needed many big items, thank goodness and we were just showered and blessed with so much love. I couldn't be more grateful to Katie or the ladies in attendance and I just know that Ezekiel will have so much love and family when he is here! It is such a comforting family to be surrounded by such an awesome family of God.
The negative side of this post is we are still fighting the iron infusions/levels. I had an infusion on May 8th and I have not had once since then. So I'm about 5 weeks behind and boy can I feel it. My energy levels have dipped and I feel the desire to chew ice returning. Miriam and I have been fighting with the insurance company to approve home infusions for me. Since it's the end of the pregnancy we're trying to keep me out of the ER, because it can take up to 4-5 hours to receive my infusion there and we just don't want to risk exposure to anything unnecessary. But Preferred Medical Plan (my insurance) has been absolutely ridiculous to work with and I will just say that their customer service is terrible! Miriam is back on the phone with the case manager this morning and we are praying for some answers, otherwise I'll most likely end up back in the ER before the weekend for another infusion there. At least my poor veins got a break!
So I am meeting with Miriam once every two weeks now and when I hit 38 weeks, we'll start meeting every week. Even though the 3D/4D ultrasound show his measurements big, I was still measuring by measuring tape at 30 1/2 weeks on the 30 week mark. So he seems to be doing okay. He's moving all the time - the twins really gave him the "luxury suite" and he has so much room to play! And when I saw his sweet face on that ultrasound, I saw his daddy! I'm so excited to see who he looks like and watch him bond with his brother. I can't believe I'll be 32 weeks on Friday. This pregnancy has flown by!
